ENGINEERING PHYSICAL METALLURGY AND HEAT-TREATMENT

This book is devoted to the presentation of the 4th ​​course "Metallography and Heat Treatment" taught by the author for many years at the Moscow Institute of Bridges and Roads.

The textbook reviews the essential principles governing the formation of the structure of metals and alloys. It covers the basics of metallography, including the study of the mechanical properties of metals and alloys as the main characteristics of the quality of mechanical engineering materials.

The author has endeavored to use little or no terminology from thermodynamics and molecular kinetics of structural processes to make it easier for students to assimilate the course without prior study of "Physical Chemistry" and "Thermodynamics."
