The best way to become better at chemical problems solving is to practice – to learn by experience. As this is not always possible, the best alternative is to learn from the experience of others.
This book describes in detail how actual problems in the chemical industry have been solved. Several Different types of problems are described: some involving multi-disciplinary teams, others largely solved by chemists; some are of the “trouble shooting” type; some are about synthesis; and some are about effluent problems.
The book contains an introductory chapter on models and procedures for chemical problem solving which is followed by eight chapters each containing a case study of a specific problem in the chemical industry.
This book can be used in a number of ways and at different levels. It will enrich the teaching of chemistry in the sixth form and in colleges, polytechnics and universities as well as being of interest to professional chemists engaged each day in chemical problem solving.
