Statistics is tailored to the needs of physical scientists, thus it spends a lot of time dealing with parameter estimation, especially the methods of Least Squares, and much less on topics like hypothesis testing which are of less relevance. It is intended for reasonably numerate scientists: in contrast to the many books clamming to teach statistics with no calculus, it is assumed that the reader has some mathematical skill. Ite contains the basic formulae, their derivations and use, and also the not-so-basic ones. The material include covers most cases a physical scientist is ever likely to meet. The book can be used both as a textbook for a wide variety of courses and as a reference manual for those using statistics.
