Mathematics for scientists, Volume 2

This book is a revised and somewhat expanded edition of Videragående Matematik, the first edition of which appeared in 1960. The Danish book was originally written for a one-year course given by the authors for chemists, biochemists and M.D.’s doing basic research.

Volume 2 contains the material on functions of one and several real variables. In this volume the concepts of a vector is used quite often, an at the end of Chapter 4 matrices and the concept of a tensor are used. Apart from this the volume can be read independently of volume 1, and, combined with a small amount of material from Volume 3, it could form the basic of a one-semester course in calculus meeting four hours a week.
