CHARGED BEAM INTERACTION
WITH SOLIDS

The interactions of electron, positron, proton, light ion and heavy ion beams with solids and solid surfaces are discussed in depth. First stage interactions only are considered; secondary phenomena are not included. The theory of atomic collisions in solids is considered first. Subsequent chapters deal with electron and ion channelling including electron diffraction and electron and proton channelling. Special emphasis is given to Lindhard's theory of channelling and dynamical diffraction theory. Inelastic scattering, dechannelling, the effect on the solid of impact of the charged particle and resulting effects on the particle itself are then discussed. Finally the interactions of charged particles with solid surfaces are described
